REJUVAGUM LIFT ™
REJUVAGUM LIFT ™
The CENTER for Advanced Periodontal & Implant Therapy now offers RejuvaGum Lift™, also known as French Gum Rejuvenation™. Utilizing Advanced-Platelet Rich Fibrin (PRF), this gum grafting procedure is performed by processing a small sample of the patient’s own blood to promote faster healing and regeneration of areas affected by the recession of the gums. No tissue graft is taken from the roof of the mouth, eliminating an often painful process and reducing recovery time.
What is Advanced-Platelet Rich Fibrin?
Dr. Amir-Alexandre Aalam is proud to be the first periodontist in the U.S. to be trained in and perform Advanced PRF treatments. His gum lift procedure is ranked as one of the highest in Los Angeles.
RejuvaGum Lift™ is an innovative procedure that treats gum recession by utilizing patients’ own blood to develop platelet-rich fibrin membranes, a clot-like substance, that helps to regenerate lost gum tissue.
The first step in the RejuvaGum Lift™ procedure is to withdraw the patient’s blood and place the sample in a centrifuge that separates the blood into three components: the plasma, red blood cells, and a small number of white blood cells and platelets. The white blood cells and platelets are called the “buffy coat,” which also includes regenerative growth factors, such as platelet-derived growth factors (PDGF), transforming growth factor beta (TGF-B), and epithelial growth factors (EGF). These growth factors are essential for increasing the body’s healing abilities and reducing the risk of infection.
Next, Dr. Aalam will make an incision in the gum tissue above the exposed tooth roots, and place the PRF substance into the gum to initiate gum regeneration. The use of Advanced PRF naturally restores lost gum tissue, speeds up the body’s natural healing process and ultimately achieves faster results. A few sutures are placed to hold the material in place for two weeks, after which patients are completely healed and their smiles restored.
Platelet-rich fibrin technology has been used in dentistry for over ten years with great success. Platelet-rich fibrin treatments have also received significant press in the sports medicine field and are also prevalent in other areas of the medical field. PRF treatment is widely used in heart surgery, orthopedics, oral and maxillofacial surgery, plastic surgery and dermatology.
Dr. Alexandre-Amir Aalam and Dr. Alina Krivitsky are the first periodontists in the U.S. to be trained in and to perform these Advanced PRF treatments. The procedure may encourage patients who require gum recession treatment for the recession of gums to undergo treatment as they learn that their gum recession can be corrected without the need for traditional gum grafting surgery.
