New Receding Gum Treatment Comes To Los Angeles: Uses Healing Power Of Patient’s Blood
Los Angeles – Husband & wife periodontists Dr. Alexandre Aalam & Dr. Alina Krivitsky are using advanced platelet rich fibrin, or “PRF” to regenerate receding gum tissue as an alternative to gum grafting. The technique, which the doctors have named the RejuvaGum Lift™ was first developed in France. Dr. Aalam and Dr. Krivitsky are among the first providers in the US.
“Receding gums are a classic symptom of gum disease, however many patients delay or avoid gum grafting surgery,” says Dr. Krivitsky. “Now patients have a less invasive alternative with the RejuvaGum Lift™, a new treatment for gum recession that uses the body’s natural healing processes to regenerate gum tissue and correct receding gums, with less pain and little to no downtime,” says Dr. Aalam.
Dr. Krivitsky and Dr. Aalam are board certified periodontists at the Center For Advanced Periodontal Treatment and Implant Therapy in the Brentwood area of Los Angeles. The advanced PRF technique has been in use for over ten years in Europe.
With the RejuvaGum Lift™ procedure the doctors draw a small amount of the patient’s blood which they spin in a centrifuge to extract the growth factors and other components that promote healing. Platelet Rich Fibrin (PRF) membrane is then fabricated using clots from the processed blood. After the gums are moved into position through an incision these PRF membranes are placed near the areas of recession and secured with a suture. The PRF spurs regeneration of gum tissue and promotes root coverage. “Patients heal faster, they have less pain and enjoy a smaller chance of infection,” says Dr. Aalam.
