ADVANCED PLATELET-RICH FIBRIN

Technologically Innovative Regeneration

The CENTER for Advanced Periodontal & Implant Therapy now offers advanced platelet-rich fibrin (PRF) for many periodontal and oral surgery procedures. Utilizing a small sample of the patient’s own blood, this therapy can enhance healing after oral surgery procedures. Not only does the treatment reduce recovery times, but it also decreases pain and swelling and improves the overall patient experience.

This innovative technology has been used in dentistry for over ten years with much success. Platelet-rich fibrin treatment has been widely used in heart surgery, orthopedics, oral and maxillofacial surgery, plastic surgery and dermatology. Dr. Amir-Alexandre Aalam is proud to be the first periodontist in the U.S. to be trained in and perform Advanced PRF treatments, and most notably utilizes the technology in the signature RejuvaGum Lift™ treatment.

A second-generation form of blood-derived growth factor technology, Advanced PRF involves the creation of a thin, durable layer of platelet-rich fibrin. The proteins in the fibrin encourage quicker healing, and when applied directly to the wound, cause the wound to close more quickly, and reduces the chances of infection.

Advanced PRF can be used for a number of periodontal and oral surgery procedures including bone defects, wisdom teeth extractions, sinus lifts, gum grafts, dry socket prevention, and more. Advantages of PRF Treatment

Advanced PRF treatments can enhance the success rate of many oral surgery procedures. Every patient’s platelet rich fibrin is processed from their own blood, which eliminates the chances for rejection or any infection, and are scientifically proven to increase healing abilities.

After centrifugation, the platelet releases specific growth factors, including transforming growth factor beta (TGF-B), platelet-derived growth factor (PDGF), vascular-endothelial growth factor (VEGF) and epithelial growth factor (EGF). Each of these factors plays a specific role in new vascularization (formation of blood vessels) and hard and soft tissue healing. Since patients heal faster, they enjoy a smaller chance of infection, dry socket, failed grafting or failed implants.
